I'm trying to understand the scales used by Synyster Gates and his dad in the end of "Sidewinder" on the album "City of Evil" I know that the chords in the back go from D min … Hello -- The "chordal seventh" is going to be different depending on the chord you're talking about -- I believe the "chordal" just tells you that you're in the context of a chord (instead of in the context of your key signature and scale). So if you are building a V7 chord in C major, the leading tone in C major (the seventh scale degree) is B. Eg, a dim7 chord is tense and dissonant, but doesn't of itself express "anger" (no chord does that). Any harmony containing minor 2nds (half-steps) will be extremely dissonant, but again, whether it communicates anger depends on other things. Likewise, it's often said that minor chords and keys are "sad", or at least "moody" or "introspective".
